We have seen the Air Jordan 2012 “Tinker Hatfield” sbeakers a few times however this time we get a official Jordan Brand look along with a bit of back ground on the inspiration for these! These kicks take some cues from Tinkers original design sketch for the 2012′s as well as the 1930’s jazz scene along with the zoot-suit garments and being that the AJ 2012 features a wing-tip look it all fell in place nicely. You may be thinking were does the Dragon come into play? Well Tinker was born in the year of the dragon so what better way to represent that than placing a Dragon on the inner panel. Check the images below and look for these to release on March 14th, 2012!

We recently gave you a look at a Black/White Air Jordan 2012 which now looks to have the name of arguably one of the best sneaker designers ever “Tinker Hatfield”! If you remember in 2010 we saw the same with the Tinker AJ 2010 in a Cream, Orange and Black colorway and this year Tinker looks to bring you a simple yet effective color blocking with some extra detailing. These kicks sport a Black base with hints of White along with a Dragon image embossed on the inner panels. You can look for these to drop on March 15th, 2012 at select retailers such as West!

Tinker Hatfield is no doubt responsible for a number of classic sneaker releases one of which we just saw hit stores with the Air Jordan 11 “Concord”, now lets take a look at some of his original sketches for these kicks! As you can see these kicks had several possibilities some of which look close to the release and others not so much however it takes alot of work to get a mater piece just right! It’s always good to see some kicks going to a great cause! Ronald McDonald House Charities is holding a Air Jordan Auction for a pair of AJ 2010′s which is from Michael Jordan’s own collection, aside from that the shoes are also signed by MJ and designer Tinker Hatfield accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity. The Jordan Jumpman logo is one of if not the most recognizable logo when it comes to basketball sneakers, however how did this classic logo come about? Many don’t know but thanks to retrourfeet on NT we have some insight behind the Jumpman logo. The image below which is seen on the OG Air Jordan 1 hang tag has a interesting creation behind it as Michael Jordan says in a 1997 interview with HOOP Magazine:

“I wasn’t even dunking on that one. People think that I was. I just stood on the floor, jumped up and spread my legs and they took the picture. I wasn’t even running. Everyone thought I did that by running and taking off. Actually, it was a ballet move where I jumped up and spread my legs. And I was holding the ball in my left hand.”

Where did the idea for this photo shoot come from? Well it seems it stemmed from a photo of MJ featured in Life Magazine for the 1984 Olympics which you can see below.

Although the Jumpman logo is seen on the hang tag of the AJ1 it didn’t actually make it’s full force debut until 1988 with the Air Jordan III, it seems MJ’s contract with Nike was coming to a close and Rob Strasser who was Nike’s VP was in a power struggle with Phil Knight, Nike’s CEO so Rob and Peter Moore, Nike’s head designer were devising a plan on the down low to pull MJ away from Nike and bring him aboard their new sneakers company Van Grack. Peter actually designed some pre sketches of his version of the Air Jordan 3 and upon his departure from Nike, Tinker Hatfield got the nod to jump in and got ahold of the sketches which included the outline of the Air Jordan Jumpman logo.

Nike’s sales jumped up in 1985 so there was no way Phil Knight was about to loose MJ to anyone so Phil gave Tinker the task of designing the Air Jordan 3 and presenting it to Mike, which both Tinker and Rob Dumas designed the entire AJ 3 line within weeks. At the meeting Mike was ready to depart from Nike however when Tinker said he had the sample of the Air Jordan 3, it grabbed Mike’s attention and after seeing the AJ 3′s design, premium leather, elephant print and the Jumpman logo covering the tongue, Mike fell in love and the rest is history! Way before the classic Air Jordan XI release, Michael Jordan told Tinker Hatfield that he wanted to make a shinny sneaker! Tinker told MJ he needed a performance reason to design such a shoe and eventually incomes the patent leather which was the perfect material to get the job done. During last nights talk with Tinker on OSD Live, Tinker went on to explain how this went down after designing the shoes. Before the drop of the shoes Boyz II Men hit the stage at a nationally televised award show and wore the Air Jordan 11′s with tuxedos, which some of you may already know so no big deal right? Well this you may not have known after the performance Michael Jordan called Tinker Hatfield on the phone and his first words to Tinker were “I told you so, motherfucker.”! Well it turns out MJ was right as the Air Jordan 11 is one of his most liked models of all time!
