A look at the UNDFTD x CONVERSE Jack Purcell Collection!

Today, CONVERSE Inc. announces the launch of the all-new Undefeated forConverse Jack Purcell Collection for Summer 2012 – the first time Undefeated has collaborated with Converse on the Jack Purcell shoe. Specialty retailer Undefeated is globally recognized for its sport inspired identity and attitude and worked closely with Converse to create a Converse First String, limited-edition summertime Jack Purcell collection.

An American classic, the Jack Purcell shoe came on the scene a little over 75 years-ago and quickly became a court and campus classic. Soon after, young rebels of 1950s Hollywood cemented the shoe as an icon of style. For the Summer 2012 Undefeated for Converse Jack Purcell collection, Undefeated made subtle design changes to the iconic shoe, beginning with the addition of stylishly simple red and navy racing stripes to their rubber rands to give the shoes a sporty, classic Converse look and feel. Undefeated leaves the signature Jack Purcell toe-smile intact and adds summery terrycloth to the lining and foot beds, and a subtle Undefeated branded heel pull-tab to the heel. The collection features three colors of the iconic silhouette with understated styling and just the right amount of Undefeated attitude.

“Converse’s heritage is the inspiration for these shoes,” says James Bond and Eddie Cruz, co-founders of Undefeated. “We were excited to work with Converse again and the Jack Purcell model for the first time. We wanted to honor the original with minimal details to give them just a touch of Undefeated attitude.”

Converse First String is a limited-edition collection that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and collaboration at the highest level. The Undefeated for Converse Jack Purcell collection will be available in limited quantities, beginning on May 25, 2012 at Undefeated stores and select Converse First String retailers globally. The collection offerings include the shoe in black, white or red canvas uppers, with the red version available exclusively at Undefeated stores. New Era links up with Converse Japan on the All Star Hi! These kicks feature a Navy Blue wool like based upper with White detailing along with the New Era logo on the outer heels. You can look for these at select Japan retailers including  New Era Japan’s online store.

Converse China get’s a specialty retail store!

On May 5-6, 2012, Converse China celebrated the grand opening event for its first-ever specialty retail store in Beijing, China. Located in the heart of Sanlitun Village, Beijing’s premium shopping mall, the Sanlitun store brings a brand new shopping experience to Chinese consumers along with the most diverse Converse footwear and apparel assortment in China.

“We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of our first specialty store in Beijing, bringing an expanded Converse retail experience to our Chinese consumers,” said Steve Parker, Vice President and General Manager, Converse Asia Pacific. “We look forward to offering our most expansive product assortment yet and an unparalleled shopping experience that truly celebrates our consumer’s originality.”

Grand Opening Celebration
The celebration of the Sanlitun store, which originally opened in March of this year, culminated during a two-day event that invited local consumers to express themselves as part of an in-store “Connectivity” photo shoot.  Following the Converse global Connectivity brand campaign, the Sanlitun Connectivity shoot will be featured in the street level central plaza of Sanlitun Village throughout the month of May. The grand opening event was a true celebration of Beijing’s creative and youth culture scene.  Guests included pop star Fu Xin Bo; indie musicians Zhang Shou Wang, Fu Han and Peng Lei; local fashion designers Vega Wang and Xander Zhou; Chinese top model Bonnie Chen; young artists Kong Ling Nan and Nod Young, as well as famous Hong Kong director Peng Hao Xiang.

The Ultimate Retail Experience
The Beijing Sanlitun store offers the most diverse assortment of Converse footwear and apparel in China, showcasing the breadth of the brand’s collections including the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star, Star Chevron, Jack Purcell, One Star and John Varvatos footwear assortments.  The store also features exclusive collaboration offerings such as the Converse Gorillaz and Converse Marimekko collections, along with a wide range of Converse China apparel.

The Sanlitun store design platform follows the brand’s new global retail format, making it the first of its kind in China. This time the two brands get together on the CX-Pro Ox for the 2nd Edition, featuring two kicks one in Brown camo and the other in Black each sitting overtop a White midsole complete with Stussy branding on the outer heel. Last week we gave you the info that the Jordan x Converse “30th Anniversary” Pack’s were available on auction via eBay, now that the auctions have ended we bring you the grand totals! The 23 packs that were available on auction brought in a total of $170, 310 and change which broke down to around $7,404.78 per pack which is a nice chunk of cash for charity. The packs included a size 13 pair of UNC Converse Pro Leather sneakers (Jordan’s size) and a size 40 North Carolina Tar Heel Jordan jersey signed by MJ.
