It looks like adidas feels the Big 5 Sporting Goods and World Industries shoes are to close to their own! According to Reuters adidas is taking legal action over over a Trademark Dispute against Big 5 Sporting Goods and World Industries to stop them from selling sneakers with a ‘similar’ three stripe design. Apparently adidas trademarked the three-stripes in the U.S. in 1994 after first using it in 1952. The stripes on the World Industries’ sneakers feature a arrow like design as you can see in the images, adidas stated: “World Industries’ merchandise is likely to cause consumer confusion, deceive the public regarding its source, and dilute and tarnish the distinctive quality of Adidas’ Three-Stripe Mark,”. Adidas has also filed similar lawsuits against Wal-Mart with a knock-off four stripe design, and in 2008, adidas was awarded $65.3 million in a trademark case against Payless ShoeSource Inc, which was reduced from $305 million award by a jury afterwards the two companies reached a confidential settlement. This collection features five adidas Originals sneakers which are each teamed with a recognizable figure from around the globe with the ZX500 by Quote of Berlin, the Decade Hi by Aloe Blacc, the Matchplay by Jim Thompson, the Baltic Cup by Kate Moross and the Pro-Shell by MURO. Each of the five shoes takes on a premium makeup as well as a design story which ties in to the designers. You can look for the collection to start making it’s way to select retailers starting May 19th.

adidas adiZero Crazy Light 2 Officially Unveiled!

adidas Basketball today unveiled the adizero Crazy Light 2. Weighing 9.5 ounces, it replaces its predecessor – the adizero Crazy Light – as the lightest shoe in basketball. The adizero Crazy Light 2 is nearly 10 percent lighter than the nearest competitor’s basketball shoe. Available content includes stills of the shoe and sketches.

In addition to its lighter weight, the new adizero Crazy Light 2 is stronger, more aerodynamic and comes in brighter colors. The super-light sequel will be available May 24.

“Elite athletes are elite athletes because they’re always fighting for that competitive edge,” said Lawrence Norman, adidas vice president of global basketball. “The adizero Crazy Light 2 is that competitive edge. The shoe had a huge performance and style impact during college tournaments and we can’t wait for fans to see the adizero Crazy Light 2 in action during the NBA playoffs. When every second of every game matters, this shoe delivers faster play, stronger cuts and greater support.”

Dozens of elite players have worn the adizero Crazy Light 2 during the most important games of their lives. During the 2012 college basketball tournament, players from Kansas University, University of Louisville, Baylor University, University of Wisconsin and Indiana University showed off their speed in adizero Crazy Light 2. When the NBA playoffs begin April 28, several players will wear the adizero Crazy Light 2, which first debuted on court at the 2012 McDonald’s All American High School Games in Chicago on March 28.

“In the league, every game matters and you don’t want anything weighing you down on the court,” said Philadelphia 76ers point guard, Jrue Holiday. “Putting on the adizero Crazy Light 2 gives me that speed and confidence I need when it counts.”

“The adizero Crazy Light 2 is light done right,” said the shoe’s designer, Robbie Fuller, adidas advanced footwear concept designer. “We not only made it lighter, but we made it stronger and more aerodynamic. We work closely with the adidas Innovation Team (aIT) to continuously innovate.

Five colorways are set to be available on May 24th priced at $140, including the electricity colorway. The adizero Crazy Light 2 will be available on adidas.com and at Foot Locker, Eastbay as well as other select retailers.
