For me personally, this year was a tough one. Too much hype surrounding shoes that people only liked because everyone else did, not enough releases that really caught my attention not to mention most of the shoes I did go after were quickly snatched up by the bots and 12 year old re-sellers. That being said, I managed to put together a top 10 list which includes shoes that I copped, went after or just really liked from the past year. Check the list below and as always thanks for looking!
10: BAPE x PUMA Disc Blaze
The Disc Blaze is a shoe that most overlook, however the camo print with black and white details on this one, clean! image: Kith
9: Stussy x Nike Air Max 95 Pack
This pack worked it’s way on the list combining a simple look on the classic runner. The Olive and Black pairs had me sold!
8: NikeLab Air Flight 89 “Black/White”
NikeLab put a nice twist on the classic Flight 89, creating several colorways sporting tonal uppers overtop white soles. The Black pair made my list due to my love for the shoe.
7: NikeLab Sock Dart #BETRUE
I just like the look of the Sock Dart, clean and simple. This spot was a tough pick as the Black Frag’s were my close second.
6: NikeLab Air Max 1 Patch Pack
Although this pack isn’t the traditional Air Max 1, it gave a nice overall look that I feel the Air Max 1 has been lacking. The “new” Air Max 1 silhouette just doesn’t cut it for me. The Black and Olive pairs from this pack were well done.
5: adidas XENO ZX Flux
The overall look of this release had me sold. I was in New York when the shoes first released and I remember running around the city trying to track down my size with my good friend Uber. I was unsuccessful in NY but was able to pick them up online on sale. Comfort and the fact that they look black at times then colorful from different angles found it’s way on my list with ease. image: Sneaker Politics
4: Supreme x Air Jordan 5 “Camo”
I know, I know. This shoe is like the definition of a hypebeast, Jordan and Supreme, man. The pack wasn’t well received by many sneaker fans which was fine with me. I really like the look of the Camo pair and was able to grab them rather easily on Supreme. These have see the pavement quite a bit!
3: Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard”
The SBB 1’s, great colorway, story and materials. This combination made these an easy pick for me as they fall at the number 3 slot. I was able to grab these locally thanks to a good friend giving me a heads up, thanks again brother!
2: adidas Ultra Boost “Black/White”
Simply put these are just comfy. I really like this silhouette and if you haven’t had a chance to try on a pair, I suggest you do so asap. Yes the retail price is a little high but if you are on the hunt for a light weight shoe that your feet will thank you for wearing, these are it. image: Sneaker Politics
1: adidas Yeezy Boost 350 “Pirate Black”
Going off of what shoe I wore the most since purchasing them, the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 “Pirate Black” came in at my number one spot. I like the fact that I can wear these with anything and be comfortable doing so. By far the best 350 colorway to date in my opinion. image: Wish ATL
