Bowerman Family Finds “Nike’s Holy Grail” the Original Nike Waffle Iron

The years have passed with the same un-answered question, Where’s the Nike Waffle Iron? Visitors to Nike’s campus would write letters asking Barbara Bowerman where the waffle iron is and would get the same response from Barbra: She threw it away! After some cleaning up in a family barn Melissa Bowerman (daughter of Bill) came across a box which had some vintage Nike shoes and the original waffle iron in it which assisted in the makeing of the Waffle Trainer, better known as the Waffle Racer today. Nike wanted to grab the waffle iron and Melissa wanted a pole-vault pit for the track team at Condon-Wheeler High School, so the two traded up! Nike unveiled the surprise finds to the Nike employees last Monday, which was two days after what would have been Bill’s 100th birthday!
