Back in late August we got a look at the 2010 Future Sole Winners one of which was Allen Largin who got the honor to meet with Carmelo Anthony and persent his winning design to the man himself!
“A key thing for him (Melo) was performance. He doesn’t want added layers and materials or things that don’t need to be there. Also, ankle support is a huge thing for him, and a lightweight shoe overall,” said Largin.
“I think the benefit for the participants of Future Sole is that you give kids the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing,” said Anthony. “The incentive is they might get the chance to see me in the shoe and get the shoe to come to life. At the end of the day – that’s their moment”
For Melo, he not only gets a chance to see one of his next pairs of kicks early in the design phase, but he gets to see the impact of the Future Sole program first hand.
The design team at Jordan has continued to expand on Largin’s original design to create a polished release for Melo to wear on the court himself. This brings the design process full-circle for Largin, who will see his early sketches developed into a real shoe for one of the biggest stars in the league and in retail later in the season. via: Jumpman23
Congrats to 15 year old Allen Largin for the great design, winning, and having this opportunity of a lifetime!
